Lactation care where there isn’t any.

The Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic is an interdisciplinary collective of healthcare professionals. We put the effort where the gap is: rural and underserved communities, and families kept from lactation care by money or distance.

The vision, said plainly

Fully funded IBCLC support for all of Ontario, virtually and in person.

That is the goal, not the situation today. What we can do today is below.

How we work

Four things we hold to.

Meet families where they are

Emotionally and geographically. We support families to define and reach their own breastfeeding, chestfeeding and human milk feeding goals, which are theirs to set and not ours.

Teach gently, and usefully

Education that is gentle and insightful, and that puts healthy infant feeding and parental wellbeing first rather than treating one as the price of the other.

Care as a team, respectfully

Comprehensive, respectful, team-based care. A family gets the whole collective rather than whichever professional they happened to reach first.

Reach, both ways

We act as a catalyst for healthy living with in-person and virtual lactation support, because the second one is how the first one reaches a town with no clinic in it.

Building healthy futures together

The bill is the barrier.

Subsidized rate consults bring the cost down for local families, and that is what we can do today. What we want is IBCLC support with nothing to pay out of pocket at all.

Getting there is not something a clinic does alone. We want to work with organizations and programmes that can reduce, or remove, the need to charge a parent for lactation care.

Interested in being part of the solution

Then let’s have a conversation.

Whether you fund care, run programmes for new families, or want lactation support in a community that has none, we would like to hear from you. Thank you for your interest in helping more families in Ontario reach their feeding goals.
