Every consult is a full hour with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Latching, sore nipples and breasts, milk supply, pumping, a baby who will not settle, or something you cannot name yet. Available everywhere in Ontario.

What we offer
Four ways to be seen.
Virtual
Our most popular consult, and the one that reaches everywhere.
A full hour on video, wherever you are in Ontario. Latch and pain, supply, pumping, feeding difficulties, and the questions you have not managed to ask anybody yet.
Why leave the house with a new baby? It works like a home visit where you never have to get dressed. Go ahead, stay in your slippers.
In one of our offices
Where there is a room near you.
The same hour, in person. Our IBCLCs hold offices in a number of areas.
The booking questions ask where you are before offering you one, so you only ever see what actually reaches you.
Before the baby comes
Prenatal consults and classes.
An hour built around you rather than a leaflet. Your IBCLC finds out what your feeding goals are, and it is fine not to know yet or to change your mind later.
Want to go deeper? There is a series of three weekly hour-long group classes as well, and people often do both.
Evenings, weekends and your kitchen
After hours and home visits.
After-hours virtual consults, prenatal consults and home visits run in the evenings and at weekends, at self-referred rates.
Home visits reach some areas and not others, so the booking questions check your postal code before offering one.
Paying for it
Three things that bring it down.
- The OHIP-subsidized rate, which needs a valid referral and health card numbers on file. You do not need to sort that out first: book the appointment you want and we will do our best to help you request one. How to request a referral.
- Private insurance. IBCLC services may be partially or fully reimbursed by your plan, and a receipt comes after every consult. Worth asking yours before you assume.
- Somebody else. Partners, grandparents, siblings and friends buy gift certificates in any amount, and they are used more often than you would think.
About virtual care
It has been studied.
Up to 96% of parents in a peer-reviewed study of OHIP-covered virtual lactation consultation appreciated their consultant’s knowledge, experience, patience and kindness, and many felt the virtual visit gave them the same experience as an in-person one.
The study was carried out at a previous clinic and co-authored by Dr. Anubha Kumar, IBCLC, Research Director at the Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic. Many of the IBCLCs and physicians in it now practise here. Read the study.
